June 2026 - The Other Big Chop
On 28 May 2026 I got a phone call to tell me that my surgery was going to be on 1 June. I would be getting a single mastectomy on the right with a Sentinel Node Biopsy (to check for certain if it had spread to the lymph nodes) and a reduction/lift on the left. The operation was done at Perth Royal Infirmary and just like Ninewells, everybody there was absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I had to be there for 7.30am so we stayed overnight at a nearby hotel so that it was a shorter drive in the morning. When we got there they had a bed all ready and waiting for me, with two other ladies also in the bay. I was going to be the third patient to go down for surgery (we were all being operated on by Mr Pitsinis) so we thought we'd be in for a bit of a wait, however unfortunately one of the other ladies ended up not getting her surgery so I only had to wait on the first lady getting hers.
